Sketchar is taking another firm step forward towards the decentralized creator economy by setting up an NFT space for artist success in web3 (a version of the internet jointly owned by the users and builders) powered by blockchain technology that enables the creator-based economy to reach its full potential.

What is the Sketchar NFT marketplace?

The Sketchar NFT marketplace is part of the Sketchar service ecosystem that helps visual artists grow and thrive by connecting them directly with their fans around the world. This platform is a sort of an add-on to our existing application with millions of creators, so at its full release, it’ll automatically represent the entire audience of the user artists with their art pieces and art collections made on or uploaded to Sketchar. Creators will be able to turn any of their artwork into NFTs right on the application and sell them through their profiles, which are at the same time their marketplace profiles. The bottom line is that this will help a wide variety of brilliant visual artists promote their digital art quickly and easily.

What is the Martians888 NFT collection?

Martians888 is an art collection based on the pixelated characters generated by Sketchar users during November-December 2021 as part of the thematic art contest launched jointly with Mars4, a virtual Mars metaverse. Each artwork is unique, so is the author behind it. In total, about 2,500 Martians were drawn, of which the top 888 were converted into NFTs.

The number 888 was chosen to match the number of rare NFTs on Mars4. These rare NFTs are uncommon and exclusive pieces of land on Mars, such as craters or mountains.

The pre-sale drop will include 22 artworks worth 0.0888 ETH each and will appear on the Sketchar marketplace homepage on March 30, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. (PST, UTC/GMT-8). Save the date!

How to buy a Martian NFT?

• Create a crypto-wallet and replenish it with ethers.
Transfer your funds to the Polygon network.
• Click on the buy button next to the artwork.

The remaining 866 pieces from the Martians888 collection will also be put up for sale as sets in the second quarter of 2022.

With the first drop of Martians888, Mars4 is giving away 20% off for Mars Land NFTs with a coupon code “Martians888” to use at the checkout.

What are the core strengths of the Sketchar marketplace?

For collectors: the opportunity to acquire remarkable, one-of-a-kind art and thus support the creators (royalties from each sale go not only to the author and the platform itself for the overall development but also to the Sketchar Creator Foundation for targeted assistance to artists in the future through various formats).
For artists: democratizing art in general and lowering the global digital art market entry barriers (with the extensive in-app toolkit: from skills upgrading to artwork selling right from the application, immediately after they’re finished).

The NFT market is booming, with collectors and traders spending $22 billion on NFTs in 2021, up from $100 million in 2020.

The key technical feature of the Sketchar marketplace is that it’s based on the Polygon blockchain. Polygon is a sidechain of the Ethereum blockchain that was created to speed up applications and smart contracts at a lower cost and to scale as user volume increases.

Blockchain technology is about to transform the creator economy, as tokens and smart contracts allow artists and supporters to have a direct relationship, open up fresh experiences, and create more meaningful connections. There is no third party to say “yes” or “no” to creators – the only judges are the open market, which determines the value of each of the creators by how much their audiences are willing to pay for those creators’ products or services.

This is where the new digital world is headed:  for decentralized ecosystems ...

Sketchar has always been a place where creativity blossoms in a myriad of different forms, so today it empowers digital artists to make their voice heard and benefit, and collectors to acquire remarkable art and thus support its authors.

Sketchar users will be able to list their artworks (made on a non-contest basis) for sale following the release of the full version of the marketplace – in the second quarter of 2022. The marketplace development roadmap is structured on its website homepage.

As with any new technology, early adopters are the ones who stand to gain the most. Get involved!
